Gareth Johnson MP welcomes rise in the number of apprentices in Dartford
Figures released by the Department for Business Innovation and Skills how that in the past year there has been a huge increase in the number of apprentices in Dartford. For the year 2009-2010 there were 330 apprentices in Dartford which has risen to a predicted 630 for the year 2010-2011.
Gareth Johnson MP for Dartford said “These figures reflect the work the Government is doing to ensure that young people are able to find skilled employment. I welcome these statistics and hope that the number of apprentices in the area continues to rise.”
Gareth had recently visited a number of apprenticeship schemes in the area including the British gas Training Academy which last year trained over 200 apprentices. Gareth said “ I have seen the excellent work apprenticeship providers do and hope that as the Government continues to reduce the amount of red tape surrounding apprenticeships more local businesses will begin to see the benefits of taking on an apprentice.”
