Gareth Johnson MP signs letter opposing Thames Estuary plans

Gareth Johnson MP for Dartford has signed a letter to the Prime Minister opposing the possible construction of a new airport in the Thames Estuary.
“I have a number of concerns regarding this proposal, including the flight path, which could be over Dartford, and the environmental impact which would be huge.  There are a large number of birds in the estuary which can be a hazard for planes if sucked into the engine” said Gareth.
Six Kent MP’s have signed the letter to the Prime Minister which outlines a number of objections to the proposals including cost and the potential impact on local residents.
“ I believe that building this airport would be immensely difficult due to engineering difficulties and instead we should first look at the possibility of extending existing airports including Manston.”
