Dartford outstrips rest of Kent when it comes to English and Maths GCSE results

Gareth Johnson MP for Dartford has congratulated Dartford’s secondary schools in their consistently high results for Maths and English GCSE’s over the last three years.

The Dartford MP has recently raised the issue of GCSE passes in these two core subjects in Parliament and in a reply from Nick Gibb MP, Minister of State for Schools, has found out that last year in Dartford nearly 73% of pupils achieved an A*-C grade in GCSE Maths compared with 66% in the rest of Kent and 65% in the rest of England.

Gareth said “These figures prove that schools in Dartford offer a first rate education to pupils and they are a credit to the teachers that work so hard to ensure that all pupils leave with the qualifications they will need to find employment or continue in education.”

The picture is also encouraging for pupils in Dartford when it comes to the last three years of results for GCSE English.  Last year in Dartford 75% of pupils achieved an A*- C in GCSE English compared with 69% in Kent and the rest of the county.

“We are fortunate to have such excellent schools that all offer something different to pupils in Dartford.  Whether students want to study traditional subjects or more vocational courses it is still essential that they leave school with these core qualifications.  I am extremely proud that in the last three years Dartford Schools have consistently out performed the rest of Kent in this area and I hope that this trend will continue.”
