Gareth Johnson: Launches ‘Holding back the British IVF revolution’

Media Ops Note:

Gareth Johnson MP for Dartford and Chairman of the APPG on Infertility, invites all media to attend the launch of the All Party Parliamentary Group on Infertility report ‘Holding back the British IVF revolution’ which highlights the inconsistent approach by PCTs to IVF provision.

NICE current guideline recommends that up to three cycles of IVF be offered to eligible couples where the woman is aged between 23 and 39.  Gareth Johnson will highlight that this is being ignored by most PCTs.

The Report follows a snap shot that was taken of IVF provision in all PCTs in the country. It will show those PCTs who fail to offer the recommended three cycles but also the additional conditions placed on infertile couples by many PCTS. These conditions occur even when PCTs are offering IVF treatment.

The Launch will take place in the Jubilee Room, Westminster Hall on 7th June 2011 between 10am and Noon.
