New MP: Football coming home to less violence?

Date: Tue 20th July 2010

FIFA World Cup

Gareth Johnson, MP for Dartford, revealed   how the great British football fan may have turned over a new leaf   and helped England to host the 2018 World Cup.

The new MP raised a Parliamentary Question  by  asking how many British  Nationals were arrested in South Africa during the World Cup

He  was pleased to find not a single British national was arrested  for football related violence  throughout the entire period of the World Cup.

Gareth commented: “Not for a generation have we seen such exemplary behaviour from English football fans travelling to a World Cup finals. Whilst we cannot be complacent, it is refreshing that it was only on the pitch that we let ourselves down and not off the pitch.  I sincerely hope that FIFA will take this in to account when deciding on the venue for the 2018 World Cup”
