Gareth Johnson MP welcomes retail sales figures
Gareth Johnson MP vice chair of the APPG on Retail has welcomed figures from the Office of National Statistics that show retail sales up by 0.9% in January compared with December.
Gareth said “These figures are undoubtedly good news for all retailers and for the economy. The retail industry is a huge employer in the local area, particularly in the case of Bluewater which employs thousands of local people.”
These new figures build on solid December sales when volumes rose by 0.6%.
“The last few years have been extremely tough for this sector and although we are by no means out of the woods I hope to see retail industry continuing to succeed across Kent.” Said Gareth.
