Gareth Johnson MP response to plans for Thames Estuary Airport
Today the Chancellor announced that the Government will consider the plans for a new Thames Estuary Airport as London Heathrow and Gatwick are now reaching their maximum capacity for flights.
Gareth said “We must carefully consider the environmental impact of these proposals. I have always had considerable reservations about having an estuary airport. Dartford could well be under any flight path to an estuary airport and therefore any decision to build one could have a big impact on our area. The Government is not suggesting that an airport will be built it is suggesting that this proposal is looked at.”
