Gareth Johnson took part in a European debate on the merits of the UK’s membership of the Europe Union with pupils from Wilmington Academy as part of the campaign to get school children debating politics: www.bitetheballot.co.uk
There were robust arguments on both sides of the debate with issues such as prisoners voting rights; trade; joining the euro; Britain’s sovereignty; the Lisbon Treaty; the cost of the EU and the controversy of having two EU Parliaments – Strasbourg and Brussels, being discussed.
Gareth said: “The pupils were extremely well informed and argued their views very well. They recognised that politics affects every part of our lives from both Parliament and the EU”.ENDS
