“Airport Plans Are Wrong” says Gareth Johnson MP in relation to Thames Estuary Airport Plans
“I continue to be opposed to these plans and I will fight any proposal for a Thames Estuary Airport” said Gareth Johnson MP. He was responding this week to the news that a consultation will take place on plans for a new Thames Estuary Airport as London Heathrow and Gatwick are now reaching their maximum capacity for flights.
“I have a number of concerns regarding this proposal, including the flight path, which could be over Dartford, and the environmental impact which would be huge. There are a large number of birds in the estuary which can be a hazard for planes if sucked into the engine” said Gareth.
“ I believe that building this airport would be immensely difficult due to engineering difficulties and instead we should first look at the possibility of extending existing airports including Manston.”
