Gareth Johnson, MP for Dartford, has today welcomed the announcement of a £2billion development from Hollywood film company Paramount Pictures, in conjunction with a consortium of other UK and international companies including the BBC, ITV, and other major brands. The leisure complex, led by the development group London Resort Company Holdings (LRCH), is expected to create around 27,000 jobs, a huge boost for the local economy.
Gareth responded positively to the news, commenting that ‘on the face of it this project is fantastic news for the local area. There is a long way to go before the first guests will use the development but this news is a huge vote of confidence in the local area. Not only will this create construction work, but there will be long-term opportunities for work in the park itself as well as the academy and surrounding hotels, restaurants and leisure areas. This will also bring much-needed investment and tourism to Kent, not only from London and the UK, but internationally as well.'
Gareth commented further that;
“After the recent announcements of an extra 2300 jobs from a proposed Bluewater expansion and 6000 new jobs and homes from the Eastern Quarry housing development, it's an exciting time for the local area. The announcement today shows that international businesses are now keen to invest in Dartford. I support the plan and will be watching the progress of the planning application with interest.”
