Both the Stone Fete and Longfield Festival were huge successes at the weekend. It appears that a record number of local people enjoyed both of these established events which provided a whole range of entertainment for families living in the area.
The Stone Fete took place on the Recreation ground in London Road where large crowds enjoyed the summer sunshine. A huge amount of work has been put in to the event which is organised by the highly innovative Stone Parish Council. The new pavilion was on show for the first time at one of these fetes and alongside it the central stage played host to a range of different acts. There was even a special bus service that was laid on to bring people to the fete that was sponsored by Ward Homes and Bluewater shopping centre.
In Longfield the Community Park hosted a large number of attractions for people to enjoy. A vintage car rally took centre stage and hundreds of people enjoyed the atmosphere throughout the day. This was yet another event that is only possible thanks to the hard work and dedication of the Parish Council and other volunteers who gave up their time throughout the year to prepare the festival for people to enjoy.
These fetes are a fantastic way for local families to enjoy both traditional and modern attractions and they are growing in popularity. Local businesses and voluntary groups worked together to ensure that a thoroughly enjoyable time was had by those who supported the events. The unsung heroes who made these two events possible will have little time to rest though before work begins on organising next year’s events.
