Last weekend Dartford Festival celebrated its 75th Anniversary with yet another enjoyable weekend of entertainment for families from across the local area. The weather was unkind over the weekend but Dartfordians showed their resilience in their hundreds and ensured that the weekend remained a success.
This year the festival had a large number of high profile acts performing including contestants from Britain’s Got Talent and Gareth Gates. Dance groups from the area were also given the chance to perform at the festival and did so in large numbers to a fantastic standard.
There were also a number of competitions including ones for budding photographers and artists. This year the Youth Zone offered young people the opportunity to see a number of activities they might like to participate in, including a stand manned by the Scouts and one manned by the Sea Cadets.
Many organisations have stands at the festival and this year I took the opportunity to have my own stand so that people could come and speak with me at the festival. I am always looking for new venues and events to meet with constituents at and enjoyed my time at the Dartford festival at the weekend. I spoke to many constituents about issues that mattered to them and about the success of the festival.
The fact that Dartford Festival is still running 75 years on is a great testament to all the hard work put into it by those involved in organising the event. I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate all those who took part in the festival and look forward to attending next year.
