From today the NHS Pharmacy First service is available for patients in England seeking treatment for minor illnesses.
The service will allow pharmacists to prescribe medication for sore throats, earaches, sinusitis, impetigo, shingles, infected insect bites and UTIs in women.
I welcome this new service providing patients access to treatment at their local pharmacy. Many people visit their chemist for minor ailments and this new service will mean more people can obtain prescriptions if necessary.
