UK Parliament Week (UKPW) is an annual event, spreading the word about what Parliament is, what it does and how you can get involved. In Dartford, many schools, as well as Scouting and Guiding groups, took part in the event which happens every November.
It is important that children understand how the British Constitution works and I was pleased to join The Brent Primary School, Cherry Orchard Primary Academy and The Leigh Academy, in marking Parliament Week.
At the Brent Primary School, I met the School Council and was given a tour, before explaining my role and answering questions.
Cherry Orchard Primary Academy is one of our newest schools in Dartford and opened in the Ebbsfleet Valley in 2017. I have visited the school several times since it opened and have witnessed it grow and go from strength-to-strength.
At The Leigh Academy, I met both younger and older students, some of whom are studying Global Politics as part of their IB qualification and they asked me a range of academic questions.
