It was a pleasure to visit Dartford and Crayford Sea Cadets again recently. The cadets heard from Yuiha Mitsui, from Hiroshima, Japan. She had asked to visit the unit as she is from a Naval family and her father is a serving officer in the Japanese Navy.
Yuiha gave a talk about her experiences in Hiroshima, using illustrations from the day the bomb dropped and the affects the radiation had on the local people for years afterwards.
After this sobering insight, Yuiha showed the cadets how to do origami, the Japanese art of folding paper into different objects, shapes and animals.
It is great to see the Dartford and Crayford unit continuing to grow in strength and numbers and providing valuable life skills to the young cadets.
