Private Members' Bill to overturn the ULEZ expansion

Dartford borders the London Borough of Bexley, and I have been a vocal opponent of the Labour Mayor charging residents £12.50 a day as part of the ULEZ expansion.

This expansion is a disaster for working people and Dartfordians are penalised for simply travelling to work or just going about our daily lives.

I was recently selected as 13th in the Private Members' Bill ballot and I announced that my Bill was to overturn the ULEZ expansion in London which came into force in August 2023.

I presented The Greater London Low Emission Zone Charging (Amendment) Bill to Parliament on 6th December 2023 and the second reading took place on 22nd March 2024.   Unfortunately, the Labour Party blocked my Bill at its second reading by "talking it out" and denying an opportunity for MPs to vote on my Bill, which had Government support.  My Bill returned to the House on 19th April and was then blocked again by the Labour Party which ended any chance of it becoming law.

Dartford MP to hold Parliamentary debate on the expansion of the ULEZ

DARTFORD MP, Gareth Johnson, is holding a debate on the expansion of the ULEZ on Tuesday, December 20th in Westminster Hall.

The debate, which starts at 2.30pm, will examine the Labour Mayor of London’s plan to expand the Ultra Low Emission Zone to the whole of London next August.

ULEZ once again raised in Parliament

The London Mayor, Sadiq Khan, has announced the Ultra-Low Emission Zone (ULEZ), will expand to the border of Dartford from 23rd August 2023.

The people of Dartford have been clear they do not want the ULEZ and I have consistently spoken out against such plans.
